For breakfast, these Glazed Chocolate Chip Yeast Waffles are a great treat. They are light and airy because of the yeast in the batter, and the chocolate chips make them taste sweet and rich. They are already very tasty, but the chocolate glaze makes them even better.
Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water 110F/45C
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
- For the glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2-3 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
Warm water, 1 teaspoon of sugar, and active dry yeast should all be mixed together in a small bowl
Allow it to sit for 5 to 10 minutes until it foams up
Whisk the flour, salt, and 1/4 cup of granulated sugar together in a large bowl
Put the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract in a different bowl and mix them together
Add the yeast mix to the wet ingredients and mix them well
Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ones while mixing them together
Keep doing this until a smooth batter forms
Put the little chocolate chips into the batter and mix them in
For about half an hour, cover the batter and let it rise
Follow the directions that came with your waffle iron to get it hot
Put the right amount of batter on a waffle iron that has already been heated up and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crisp
In a bowl, mix powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth
While the waffles are cooking, make the glaze
Pour the glaze over the waffles that are already cooked, and serve them hot
